Operation Procedure of Mini Ice Maker
Water Filling
The ice-making process begins by adding water to a reservoir in the portable ice maker. While conventional refrigerators have a dedicated water line hooked up for this, portable ice makers do not. Instead, users manually fill the water container with a water bottle, jug, or tap.
The water is then pumped from the reservoir through a filter into an ice tray, where it freezes into ice shapes that vary by model. These shapes can include half cubes, full cubes, bullets, or nuggets, each with its own benefits. For example, full cubes are ideal for chilling bottles and cans in a cooler or bucket, while nugget ice is softer and popular among kids and ice chewers.
The Refrigeration Cycle
Next, the freezing process starts. Metal prongs are submerged in the ice tray. They get extremely cold very quickly, which makes for rapid ice making. In general, ice is fully formed in about five to 15 minutes, based on cube volume.
Tray Emptying
Once the ice reaches the right size, any excess water is sent back to the reservoir. Meanwhile, the prongs warm up slightly to help the ice release into a bin above. A sensor in the storage bin detects when it's full and automatically shuts off the system.
At that point, you have a couple of options. You can pause ice production for a while, or you can transfer the ice into an insulated container or your refrigerator's freezer compartment and start refilling the portable ice maker. It all depends on how much ice you need.
Cleaning Precautions of Mini Ice Maker
Cleaning inside a portable ice maker: Portable ice maker is self-cleaning. To run a cleaning cycle, fill the reservoir with equal parts water and white vinegar, then hold the ON/OFF button for five seconds.
When the cycle is over and the unit goes back into Standby Mode, drain the reservoir and run another cleaning cycle with fresh water to rinse it.
Cleaning the ice bucket and water tank: Unplug the appliance, remove the drainage cap, and drain the tank. Wipe the inside with a cloth and clean, warm water. Flush with clean water until the water runs clear.
Cleaning the outer case: Wipe the case with a soapy cloth. Be sure to dry thoroughly.
Cleaning the control panel and door: Wipe the surfaces with a damp cloth. Do not use soap.
Storage Requirements of Mini Ice Maker
It needs to remain upright. Just like a refrigerator or freezer it uses a coolant to make the ice. Tipping greater than 45 degrees for extended time can cause internal damage.
